A hard drive in one of my servers went down. It happens. Usually I just go to Amazon and buy a new one, because most manufacturers’ warranty service is such a hassle most of the time.
This time, I went to the Western Digital web site. I had never bothered to register the drive, so I got that feeling you get when you’re getting ready to battle customer service.
Instead — awesomeness.
Typed the serial number and within 5 minutes a new drive was on the way, a mailing label was printed — and I was happy.
Kudos to Western Digital
Warning to tech companies: If you can’t get this good, you’re going to get your ass kicked.
Making a good product isn’t good enough anymore. That’s the ante that gets you a seat at the table. Service is what customers pay for.
