A really unusual bunch of friends

carbonite TAF Check out the "where did you hear about us" choices from Carbonite (which is a great service to back up your computer automatically).  They’ve got quite an unusual bunch of friends!

More important, they take the word of mouth question seriously, and they know exactly where there referrals are coming from.  You should be able to do that too.

More from a previous post of mine: How to measure new business from word of mouth.

Carbonite_2Carbonite gets double points for also including a "refer a friend" button on every screen of their software.
More about that important trick in this post: How can your users talk about you.

Their new web site is a big improvement and shows that they have been paying attention to good marketing practices. Carbonite as a backup service is a lesson in simplicity and elegance. It is to backup what the iPod is to mp3 players.
