Dude, please read this if you’re going to blog

Every day people say, “I wrote some blogs” — when they mean, “I wrote some posts.”

Grr. Folks, learn the terms.

blog is the whole thing and a post is one story. Just like a newspaper is the whole thing and an article is one story.

You wouldn’t say, “I wrote a newspaper” when you meant, “I wrote an article in a newspaper.”

(Not convinced? Does your blogging control panel say new blog or new post?)

Great post! I think getting the terms right helps avoid overwhelm too! If you suggest to someone that they write a blog, I think it conjures up visions of some huge undertaking that’ll take forever and how will they find enough to write about. Whereas if you suggest that they write a post, it seems do-able.
