Friends: It’s quality, not quantity

The Louisville Free Public Library suffered $5 million in damage from a flash flood earlier this month.

Steve Lawson, a librarian in Colorado, read about it — and wrote a single blog post asking for donations to help. It got picked up by a local radio station and mega-blog Boing Boing. Here's the post.

So far he's raised $3,200 and is well on the way to their goal of $5,000.

Don't underestimate the power of a single blogger or a single post.

When you reach out in social media, it's not the quantity of followers you get. It's about the quality of their love, support, and conversation.

Steve is helping librarians across the country. I'm helping Steve because he went to college with my wife.  You never know where your next friend is coming from — so be friendly.

Help Steve save the library — make a donation here.

P.S. Here's another great story of a single blogger making a difference: David Armano helping a family in need.
