How to get people to watch your ads for free

Heinz
Ben McConnell has a great post here about the value of consumer-generated video. He talks about how Heinz has a contest for customers to create their own commercials (and how traditional media is dismissing it as silly, or at least not great advertising). But, he says:

Just scrolling through some of the entries I watched 10 different ads for Heinz. Isn’t that the idea? Trust me, none of them harmed my impression of your ketchup.

Get customers to voluntarily watch your ads! That’s cool and fun.

How? Just be cool and fun.

How can you have a video contest?
