Lebowski 37: Create a mythology

image I recently bought a Sling box (you must get one!).

On the bottom of the inside package, otherwise blank, were the tiny words Lebowski 37.  Hmm.  Reference to the movie?

It got me googling, and sure enough … there is a rich discussion in the Sling forums here and elsewhere.

The lesson:  DO something to add personality and adventure to your product. It doesn’t take much work or cost anything. Just let make sure Marketing doesn’t kill the fun.

Wow, that reminds me of (sort of, anyway) the Bible verses on the bottom of bags and cups at In-N-Out Burger.
But adding the code name/in joke is incredibly clever and adds another little touch to an already incredibly clever product.
