image Word of Mouth Big Idea:  You can build an entire brand around one great reason to talk.

Everybody’s Nuts has a great word of mouth topic built right into their brand: Find an unopened pistachio and they give you a whole bag for free.

Read the letter that they send if you find one.  Fun, authentic, and worth talking about.

Thanks, Nikki Lockett!

thanks for reporting on this. What a fun and cleaver way to play with one’s brand. They really found an interesting way to keep their customer engaged while eating nuts. The other thing I liked about the letter was how they used the free coupon as a means to cross-sell the customer to another flavor by simply inviting them to try the other wonderful flavors.
As a database marketing professional and marketing analyst I would love to analyze the results of this type of marketing.

They’re a truly good brand– quality product, clear ‘personality’, and a guarantee that they follow up on (I confess, when I buy them I’m always looking for that ‘closed nut’). Every package has a little comic, too.

The simplest laptop cooling system and ergonomic stand:  An empty 3-ring binder.

2. Nut Poppers

How did this product name get approved?  Hundreds of brand managers, ad agencies, factory workers, media buyers. Didn’t anyone hear the interns snickering? Is the advertising world that dense?

I’ve been doing a series over on my blog on “When Product Naming Goes Bad”. Check them out, I’ll be adding this one for sure!
So far I’ve discussed “Spotted Dick”, “Lay’s”, “Horlicks”, “Blow”, and
“Bimbo” and this link to some pretty funy URL’s:

    Hi Andy,
Thanks for this wonderful tip. I tried it in my workplace and it worked wonders. Please check out my blog post for the photographs about the ergonomic laptop stand.
