This car company would save a ton of money and work if its customers would switch to electronic billing.

But most people probably don’t care, and don’t bother to make the effort. We care about the environment and reducing waste, but it doesn’t always motivate us when we’re trying to get the bills paid.

So this simple incentive offer may be all it takes — a sweepstakes entry for switching.

Lesson: Sometimes a silly contest is better than a logical appeal.

    I have had a Toyota lease for 3 years. Within the first month of having the car, I signed up for paperless billing. Then I got a bill in the mail. This happened for a couple months, so I re-signed up for paperless billing figuring there may have been an error. 3 years later, I’m still getting paperless and paper bills. So there are some customers who are willing to save a company money, but the company doesn’t seem to care enough to not send paper bills. Same with catalogs! I remove myself from mailing lists and they keep on coming.
