Mitch Joel: Word of Mouth and Podcasting

Mitch Joel is a fantastic podcaster.  He interviewed me at the Shop.org innovation conference.  I recommend listening to his show to really understand what all this social media stuff is about.

We had a great conversation about word of mouth marketing.  My favorite bits from the interview:

  • Why would you pay to run an ad when someone else would do it for you for free?
  • To be good at traditional advertising, you just need to write checks. But word of mouth is harder.  To get customers to love you, you have to be lovable.

Some people get this, and some people would rather write checks.

Listen to the podcast.

After his interview, I interviewed Mitch about how he does his podcasts and the value of them.  Watch it here:

Thanks, Mitch!
