Falling down a 32-story building for charity

It’s hard to get word of mouth for a charity. We’re all flooded with requests to make a donation, sponsor a walk-a-thon, or buy some food.

Walk-a-thons were invented to break that fatigue. They work because:

  • It’s easier to talk about the event than a depressing cause
  • It’s easier to ask a friend to support you than it is to ask them to support some organization that they have no connection with

When they were new, everyone loved to collect pledges. Now there’s a lot of fatigue. Word of mouth dies when we have nothing new to talk about.

That’s why I’m participating in this — they’re restarting word of mouth by making it even more remarkable:

Oh No!

For some reason, I agreed to rappel down a 32-story building to support Make-A-Wish Central & South Texas.

Please Help!

I may panic, barf, or soil myself. This would entertain you.

Come watch: June 15, 11:40 am, 6th and Congress.

You won’t feel as guilty about laughing at me if you make a donation to this worthy cause.

More important, more than 350 children in central and south Texas are diagnosed each year with a life-threatening medical condition. Last year, Make-A-Wish Central & South Texas granted 216 wishes — you can help Make-A-Wish reach more of these children and create hope, strength, and joy in their lives. All the money raised by rappellers goes towards granting the wishes of these local children.
