First impressions matter

CIMG2812Every week I get a bunch of books mailed to me by authors hoping to get noticed.

They’re always in a crappy, puffy envelope with sloppy stamps and a hand-written address. The impression this gives is “what an amateur.”

We mail my book in a nice, heavy cardboard book mailer with a professionally printed label. It’s feels “real.”

The kicker — it costs half as much to get the good envelopes from a place like Uline than it does to get the cheap-looking envelopes at Staples.

Winners sweat the details.
