Keeping participation simple

imageThe Maker’s Mark Ambassador program is still the gold standard of customer involvement.  The secret: They keep it simple and they keep it genuine.

Check out the email CEO Bill Samuels sent to the ambassadors recently.  It shares a recipe and it gives you a tool to share it with your friends. You can create your own personalized recipe cards — and Maker’s will print them and mail them to you.

This is a great idea. If you want people to talk about you, put a tangible object in their hand that they can give to people. Make it unique and personalized, and they’ll be proud to show it off.

The cost of this program?  Laser-printer perforated cardstock, postage stamps, and an intern.

Dear Ambassador,

I wanted to pass on a drink recipe that was submitted to our Web site from a Las Vegas bartender friend of ours. He calls it an "Orange Bourbon Press" and I think it sounds like a really refreshing way to enjoy our fine bourbon in these upcoming summer months:

2 1/4 oz. Maker’s Mark bourbon
3/4 oz. Grand Marnier
Splashes of club soda and ginger ale
Orange slice for garnish

First, remove rind from orange slice and muddle it in the bottom of a rocks glass with club soda. Add Maker’s Mark and Grand Marnier, stir and fill with ice. Top with equal parts ginger ale and club soda.

Garnish with the orange rind.

Thanks J.F.!

Everyone who has a favorite cocktail knows how to make it "just right."

Wouldn’t it be great if you had a way to order your drink, just the way you like it when you visit your local watering hole? Well, we think we’ve got just the thing; go to the Tools section of the Ambassador Web site http://www.makersmark.com/ambassador/tools.aspx and you can fill out your very own recipe card. Just fill out the card and we’ll mail them to you.

Cool, huh?

Bill
