A fantastic word of mouth story from Brenda at Chesapeake Cats & Dogs.
I volunteer with Chesapeake Cats & Dogs (a small nonprofit on Maryland’s Eastern Shore), and we try to make our events unusual and fun. In March, we had a Kitten Shower at a local business, featuring our adoptable cats. We advertised the event and then a couple of weeks before, we sent out a press release that the adoptable dogs would be staging a sit-in outside the business to protest being excluded from the shower. It was just unusual enough to peak public/media interest. It was a great success!
You don’t need some expensive campaign to get people to talk about you. Just keep it simple and clever.
