Social media is not about the media

The next big thing in social media is not about social media.

Brands are increasingly panicky about the latest and greatest social media platform. Google+, Pinterest, and whatever comes next.

We’re forgetting the lesson we learned two years ago: It’s what you share, not how you share it. What drives social media is the quality of the conversation, not the platform where it happens.

Here’s how you become technology-proof: Get good and having conversations. If people enjoy having a relationship with you, they’ll follow you to whatever tech hosts the conversation next year.
