Who’s next door?

image A brand-new diner opened in our neighborhood. Word is that they have good food.

But it’s empty.

They should start a word of mouth campaign to the neighbors:

  1. A free pancake breakfast for the 100 families at the day care next door.
  2. A free lunch for the teachers at the high school across the street.
  3. A special discount for all the teams at the school. Make it their meeting place.
  4. A free lunch at a certain time for the residents of each neighborhood high-rise. One building at a time.

Each of these will cost a few hundred dollars. But they’ll create instant awareness in that community. Everyone will be talking about it.

By focusing on small communities with a big promotion, you can create bursts of conversation that random advertising never could.
