We hosted a cool event last October called BlogWell: How Big Businesses Use Social Media. Some amazingly great ideas were shared by some very large companies, and I wanted to share them with you.
We're doing it again on January 22 in Chicago. Hear social media case studies from Allstate, H&R Block, The Home Depot, Mayo Clinic, Procter & Gamble, Walmart, Sharpie and the U.S. Coast Guard. Learn more.
John, Suraya, and Jessica's big idea: Whatever you decide to do, make a difference.
Walmart is big. Everyone knows that. But the numbers can still make even the most jaded cynic sit and pay attention:
- 9 out of 10 U.S. consumers shop at Walmart
- 22% of U.S. consumers know someone who works at Walmart or Sam's Club
With this many people connected with the brand, John, Suraya, and Jessica all reiterated that their social media efforts are directed toward making a difference in people's lives. Indeed, all social media efforts at the company boil down to four guiding principles:
- Increase loyalty
- Gain understanding
- Reduce costs
- Reinforce brand pillars
