Amazon: Word of mouth that sticks around

Amazon is selling groceries now.  They want people to remember and tell their families.

So they now include a pad of shopping lists when shipping their book orders.  Useful, easy, and it sticks around for a long time.

Lesson:  What else can you put in the boxes you ship?

You’re paying by the pound, so put those extra ounces to use by filling the box with word of mouth tools. Coupons, magnets, catalogs, samples … anything that gets passed along.

    Except… don’t send something annoying. There was a vogue amongst eBay sellers a while back for little wrapped chocolates that said “thank you”. Great idea, except if you ordered something in August and it turned up covered in melted chocolate :-(
